Did you know that Park City has made their already ambitious climate goals EVEN BETTER?

Park City Council members have agreed to bump up the timeline for becoming net zero community-wide by a few years, moving the goal from 2032 to 2030! This move comes as the IPCC released their grim climate report in October 2018. It would also provide a boost to the goals and attention being paid to an Olympic Winter Games bid as well.

The aim to reach these goals rests on a multi-faceted strategy that embraces renewable energy and huge steps to make electricity use as energy efficiency as possible. Park City already is working to revamp the public transportation system by bringing more electric buses online--of which the city is in the process of purchasing and making 7 new buses all electric. The carbon emissions saved from this effort will stand to be improved even more once the new renewable energy plant in central Utah comes online.

But, the key to achieving this goal community-wide means that Park City residents really have to step-it-up. We have a lot of work to do, to make lifestyle changes and cuts to how we use energy every day!
